Risk Assessment

When producing a music video is it essential to produce a risk assessment, this enables us to keep everyone safe and be aware of any risks around. As our video is very disjunctive and is filmed in a number of different locations is it imperative that we produce a risk assessment. As our music will be filmed in many public locations most of the risk has been taken care of and it is our responsibility to follow the rules and regulations that have already been made clear to us. However for other locations such as the cut back to the band the location will be much more private and it is up to us to identify the risk and make others aware.

I will start the risk assessment with the most likely risks, such as tripping hazards. There is always the hazard of tripping wherever we film, however the most likely is to be tripping over wires and equipment when filming the actual band performance. Although tripping is a hazard the consequences of such a hazard are usually fairly minor, although we will still look to avoid this hazard by making everyone aware of the wires and equipment. When filming in public locations such as the Bullring there is very little we can do about such hazards.

Another hazard that must be considered when producing our video is the danger of vehicles, this is particularly   concerning the train we are planning to include in our video. Despite the obvious risk of such vehicles the likelihood of an accident is relatively low, although any accident could be extremely severe. We plan to avoid this by following any rules and regulations that have been displayed through signs and announcements.

Obviously when filming in public there is also the threat from other people, this again is very unlikely to happen  and we will avoid this hazard by sticking together as a group.

An obvious and much more likely hazard is caused by the equipment used during the bands performance and the filming equipment used. This is much more likely to happen although the consequences should be less severe than some of the other hazard we face during the filming of our music video. To prevent this hazard causing any problem no matter how severe, we will ensure that all equipment is securely placed (for example speaker and amps). Other equipment such as light and camera's also represent the risk of burns.

Overall there are always going to be hazards no matter where or how we film our music video, the likelihood and severity of these vary greatly. We will be doing everything we can to avoid any hazard during the making of our video and producing this risk assessment will only heighten our awareness of the risks around.
