It's taken me and Ed a while to start and get some ideas for band names. We started thiking of a band name last week, and started by going through old editions of music magazines, both of our iTunes library to look for one word names to have as our name, this is because we felt that by doing this it would be short, sweet and to the point. We then decided we wanted to have my band as 'The' someone. We once again looked at music artist names for inspiration but didn't find anything that we both agreed on and liked.
We then started going through more songs in our iTunes and found the song titled LA Love by Fenech Soler. We both instantly agreed that we liked the way Fenech Soler had named the song starting with LA, which can either be taken as 'the' in French, or Los Angeles. We decided to take it as in the French way of saying 'the' and therefore decided to use this as a way of showing that the band are demonstrating that they have different ways of expressing themselves and didn't simply stick to the trend of just having 'The' in front of their chosen word for the band name.
After that we took a dictionary and looked through for words that would work well for a band of this genre type - 'Indie/Alternative'. After making several different names for the band, we finally decided to name the band 'LA Unknown'.
The reasoning behind the word Unknown is fairly simple. We feel that being called LA Unkown; 'The Unknown' it showed that before the band found their success they were actually no-where in the music industry, and were only really heard about in there hometown of Camden.
